Pipers River, North East Tasmania
TPS Energy plans to set up several solar farms across Tasmania. The first of these projects is located at Pipers River in the North East of lutruwita/Tasmania. The solar farm will produce around 4.95 MW of electricity and this will be sent directly into TasNetworks' electricity grid. Along with the array of solar panels, inverters and underground cables will need to be installed. There will be some vegetation clearance necessary to enable access roads into and across the site.
TPS Energy own the land on which the project at Pipers River will be located at Lot 2, 5550 Bridport Road, Pipers River TAS 7252. Other features of the land include fencing, on-site CCTV and alarm systems, and a shipping container containing the transformer. It is anticipated that any noise from the transformer will also be contained within the shipping container. Additionally, there is no requirement to install any high voltage transmission lines as the solar farm will connect directly into existing infrastructure.
The project will have an annual average output of 8 GWh, enough to power approximately 1,000 Tasmanian homes annually and more broadly supports Australia's emission reduction targets.
During the construction stage of the project it is anticipated that around 10 to 15 jobs will be created. Once operational, the solar farm will be unmanned, however it will still require a small team of around three people for general maintenance.
