TPS Energy was honoured to participate as both a sponsor and adjudicator at the University of Tasmania's School of Engineering Open Day, held on Wednesday, 22 October 2025. The annual event celebrates the achievements of final year engineering students, who present their thesis projects to industry professionals and compete for prestigious prizes.

TPS Energy sponsored three prizes at the event, with company representatives serving as adjudicators across each category.

Dr Tien Ho, Managing Director of TPS Energy, served as adjudicator for the Smart Energy Prize, evaluating student projects at the forefront of energy innovation. David Barwick, Technical Director, represented TPS Energy as adjudicator for the Control and Mechatronics Engineering Prize, assessing projects that push the boundaries of automation and intelligent systems. Logan Ho, Project Director, adjudicated the Innovative Renewable Energy Prize, recognising outstanding student work in the renewable energy space.

The event was coordinated by Professor Michael Negnevitsky, Chair in Power Engineering and Computational Intelligence and Director of the Centre for Renewable Energy and Power Systems at UTAS, who has long championed the connection between industry and academia in Tasmania's engineering community.

TPS Energy's participation reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of engineers and its close partnership with the University of Tasmania. The company believes that strong ties between industry and education are essential to building the skilled workforce that Australia's renewable energy transition demands.
