TPS Energy is pleased to announce that its project company, Piper River Solar Farm Pty Ltd, has received planning approval from George Town Council for the development of the Pipers River Solar Farm, located at Lot 2 Bridport Road, Pipers River TAS 7252.

The planning permit, issued on 16 December 2025 under Planning Permit No. DA 2025/15, marks a significant milestone in the project's development journey and clears the way for the next stages of detailed engineering design and construction preparation.

The Pipers River Solar Farm will feature a 7 MW solar array and a 22 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), with an export capacity of 4.95 MW directly into TasNetworks' electricity grid. With an annual average output of 8 GWh, the project will generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 1,000 Tasmanian homes annually, contributing to Australia's renewable energy and emission reduction targets.

The project connects directly into existing TasNetworks infrastructure, with no requirement to install high voltage transmission lines. Construction is scheduled to commence in Q3 2026, generating approximately 10 to 15 local jobs during the construction phase.

TPS Energy plans to establish multiple solar farms across Tasmania, with the Pipers River Solar Farm representing the first in this pipeline. The approval underscores the company's commitment to delivering technically sound, commercially viable, and community-conscious renewable energy projects in the state.
